Amazon Prime brings Whole Foods discounts to 10 more states
12 Jun 2018
Amazon Prime members began getting discounts and special deals at select Whole Foods Market stores on Wednesday, May 16. And now, less than a month later, the online retailer is spreading the wealth and expanding those discounts to folks in 10 more states, including Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii, Oregon, North Carolina, and Washington. By Wednesday, June 13, these special discounts will be available to folks in 23 states total.

“We’re excited that Prime savings will be available at nearly half of our Whole Foods Market stores this week, giving more Prime members access to great deals just in time for summer,” said A.C. Gallo, president and chief operating officer at Whole Foods Market. “Based on the positive customer feedback and successes we’ve seen over the past month, we’re accelerating our timeline to expand these savings to all of our U.S. stores.”

This latest expansion follows the initial launch in Florida stores, as well as a previous announcement on May 30, when Amazon shared that Prime savings had been made available in 121 more stores in 12 more states, including Northern California, Colorado, and Texas. All Whole Foods Market 365 stores now have Prime savings.

Amazon will extend the new Amazon Prime perk to all Whole Foods Market stores nationwide beginning this summer.

DISCOUNTS AND SPECIAL DEALS

Prime members will save in two ways with the new Whole Foods Market perk: Discounts and deals. Scan your Prime Code or enter your phone number when you check out, and you’ll get an extra 10 percent discount on all sale items in Whole Foods Market stores. The discount doesn’t apply to everything in the store — just the items on sale. Prime members will also receive additional deep discounts on select best-selling items, that is in addition to the incremental 10 percent off sale items.

“This new Prime benefit at Whole Foods Market is a perfect pairing of healthy and delicious food at even more affordable prices,” said Amazon Prime vice president Cem Sibay. “Our vision is that every day Prime makes your life better, easier and more fun, and shopping at Whole Foods Market with exclusive deals and savings is all of this and more.”

Whole Foods Markets will also feature Prime member deals in stores for extra savings. For example, this week, the following Prime members deals will be available in all locations:

  • Organic yellow nectarines and peaches, $1.99/lb., save $2/lb.
  • Made-in-house pork sausage, no antibiotics, $3.99/lb., save $3/lb.
  • Wild sustainably caught yellowfin tuna steaks, $15.99/lb., save $9/lb.
  • Annie’s Natural Macaroni & Cheese, buy one, get one free
  • Essentia Water, 1.5L bottles, 4/$5
  • Self-serve tea cookies by the pound, 50 percent off (one-day sale, June 15)

“We’re thrilled for Whole Foods Market to be part of the Prime experience,” said Whole Foods co-founder and CEO John Mackey. “By offering greater discounts on sale items, and exclusive deals like $10 off a pound for sustainably sourced, wild-caught halibut, launching savings for Prime members is an amazing opportunity to bring our industry-leading quality standards and delicious food to more customers at a better price.”
